Getting the Yuck out!

Many (if not most) of my close friends and family know I have been on a mission since just before my second son was born 2 years ago to get the unhealthy, nastiness out of our home. Of course it started with me and my kids, then my hubby with our diet and nutrition. We still sometimes slip up–we are human and have been Americanized (as I like to call it) to love processed foods–but we try to jump right back in. Next up is/was the products that go ON our bodies, not just IN them. Why?

Our skin is the largest organ on/in our body. It absorbs everything you put on it. So when toxins and chemicals are in your lotions, sunscreens, facial wash, shampoo, etc it is getting into your body. Yes, it is. So I finally found a company{Beautycounter} I love that has the mission to change the face of this industry.

The United States has not passed a federal law to regulate the ingredients used in personal care products since 1938. The European Union has spent the past two decades banning or restricting more than 1,300 ingredients, the US has only banned 11 to date. We deserve better, and we’re doing something about it. At Beautycounter, they’ve banned more than 1,500 ingredients setting a new health and safety standard—all while ensuring their products perform, and that they’re as indulgent as any luxe shampoo, lipstick or oil in the market.

So I had to post because I am TRULY excited about this company and their mission!! Let me know if you’d like to join me on this mission or just buy their awesome products. (Full cosmetic line coming in a few months) They’ve already gotten some great press and released our new Protect Sunscreen that rates a 1 on EWG Skin database. Yay for a cleaner, safer world, one bottle at a time! 🙂
